Fentanyl High documentary screening at South Tahoe High

May 6, 2025 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

A free community event focused on fentanyl awareness, education, and overdose prevention is taking place in South Lake Tahoe on Tuesday, May 6, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The impactful documentary Fentanyl High is being shown to the public at South Tahoe High’s TADA Theater. The movie, created by Kyle Santoro, digs behind the social media facades to reveal what high school teens honestly think deep down about the fentanyl epidemic. It explores how teens today are dealing with their emotional pain in school and at home, why they are self-medicating, and what can be done to prevent tragedy. The movie gives first-hand experiences of paramedics, government officials, doctors, and parents whose teens have died from fentanyl poisoning.

Earlier this month, Fentanyl High was shown on the West Slope of El Dorado County to full theaters.

The movie is free, but registration is required. Please visit https://www.eventbrite.com/e/south-lake-tahoe-community-awareness-fentanyl-high-event-tickets-1301222063219 for tickets. There will be raffle prizes given out during the movie. The movie is meant for those age 13 and older.

There will be local resources available at the showing. It is being brought to the South Lake Tahoe Community by the El Dorado Youth Action Council, and the local team of Barton Health, TASK, COPE, Mountain High Recovery, LTUSD, El Dorado County, and Friday Night Live.
