SUMMARY:An Evening With Scott Forrest: Monumental Abstracts in Motion
DESCRIPTION:SOUTH LAKE TAHOE\, Calif. – Step into a world where scale\, rhythm\, and bold intuition collide. Internationally acclaimed artist Scott Forrest—whose work has been featured in Rolling Stone\, Newsweek\, Spin Magazine\, Tahoe Quarterly\, and Tahoe Magazine—brings his monumental vision to life in a presentation that transcends canvas. SUMMARY:Haight-Ashbury tour guide to present South Lake Tahoe Library program on Jefferson Airplane
DESCRIPTION:SOUTH LAKE TAHOE\, Calif. – Haight-Ashbury tour guide Rodney Paul returns to the South Lake Tahoe library to present on one of his favorite bands\, The Jefferson Airplane\, on August 26 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. \nIn 1967\, the year of the Summer of Love\, Jefferson Airplane was the San Francisco hippie community’s best-known band. Their release that year of “Surrealistic Pillow” rocketed them to international fame\, and they would go on to play all the major 1960s rock festivals: Monterey Pop\, Woodstock and the ill-fated Altamont. \nThis presentation includes videos from several of their concerts\, including ones at San Francisco’s Fillmore Auditorium and on the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour. \nThey’ll talk about their roots in folk music and how a key personnel change spurred them to great success. In just five years\, they released five classic albums and were harbingers of what came to be called “The San Francisco Sound.” \nThis event is sponsored by the Friends of the Library. \nFree and all are welcome. \nThe library is located at 1000 Rufus Allen Blvd.\, South Lake Tahoe.

SUMMARY:Tahoe History Talks on the Beach - Into the Jaws of Hell
DESCRIPTION:SOUTH LAKE TAHOE\, Calif. – The Lake Tahoe Historical Society is holding another Tuesday Night “Tahoe History Talks on the Beach” July 29 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. This week it will be “Into the Jaws of Hell\,” a Chautauqua performance by local historian David Woodruff\, who portrays the character of William Lewis Manley. \nIn 1849\, Manley was one of dozens of pioneers who stumbled\, off-course\, into the harsh eastern California desert while searching for a shortcut to the California goldfields. Manley recounts the dramatic and heroic tale\nof how stranded\, forlorn\, and desperate men\, women and children endured unfathomable hardships to keep their families alive… and\nchristened the chilling name upon their fateful location —Death Valley. \nThe history talk is at Lakeview Commons and there is free parking. The talk is free but donations to the Historical Society are always appreciated. \nThe final history talk of the summer will be on Tuesday\, August 5\, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. when Toogee Sielsch presents “History and Habits of Black Bears in the Lake Tahoe Basin.” Girl Scout Troop 119 recently earned their Bronze Award for their public education outreach on how to coexist with the area’s black bears. SUMMARY:Free Tahoe-Friendly Garden Tour
DESCRIPTION:SOUTH LAKE TAHOE\, Calif. – Discover the natural beauty and sustainability of local gardens at the Tahoe Friendly Garden Tour\, a free\, self-guided event presented by South Tahoe Public Utility District and UC Master Gardeners of Lake Tahoe. This year’s tour will take place on Tuesday\, July 29\, 2025 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.\, and highlights six unique gardens in the Meyers community. \nThe tour begins at Lake Tahoe Golf Course\, with an after-party celebration featuring live music from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the same location. Sharing it on the tour is a joy\, and I hope visitors leave feeling inspired to cultivate their own green spaces mindfully.” \n\nTour participants will have the opportunity to speak with local gardeners about their experiences\, challenges\, and garden transformations. UC Master Gardener educators will also be on-site to provide expert tips on defensible space and Tahoe-friendly gardening practices. \nThe full route covers 3.5 miles\, and carpooling or biking is highly encouraged. SUMMARY:Desert Moon two-day electronic music festival in Reno
DESCRIPTION:A new moon is rising over Reno’s music scene. RVLTN Events proudly announces the debut of Desert Moon\, a two-night electronic music experience taking over City Plaza on Friday\, September 26 and Saturday\, September 27\, 2025\, 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. each day. \n“Desert Moon is more than an electronic concert\, it’s a statement about Reno’s growth as a cultural destination and our commitment to bringing world-class experiences to downtown Reno\,” said Ethan Wigfield\, Event Creator and Director of Operations at RVLTN. \nKnown for electrifying crowds across Las Vegas and beyond\, RVLTN has been testing the temperatures in Reno for over 2 years. The scene responded with ravenous ravers and sold out crowds on a monthly basis. Pairing large-scale production with a lineup that blends international headliners\, cult favorites\, and rising local talent\, Desert Moon is poised to spark a new era for live music in the Biggest Little City. \nLeading the charge on Friday is electronic rock juggernaut Sullivan King\, known for his metal breakdown-inspired drops and ripping live guitar solos. \n“Can’t wait to get RECKLESS in RENO! Let’s rage this summer in the desert!!” said Sullivan King. \nFor the final set on Saturday\, ATLiens will invade City Plaza\, bringing chaos of an extraterrestrial nature. When asked for comment\, ATLiens offered only a cryptic message. The translation is unclear\, but one thing is certain: Desert Moon promises an experience that’s out of this world. \n“𐊑⩻Ϟ⟊҂⫷⟁⩢⟁⧇ ϯ⟁𐍃 ⩸҉𐐘 ᔦ⟁⧋ ⧩҈𐑗 ϟ⟊⪿Ϣ ⩽⧈⩬ 𐌌⟁ ⫺⩻⩫⧞⩼\,” said ATLiens. \nThese heavy-hitting headliners are supported by masked mystery man GHENGAR\, dubstep titan FuntCase\, and bass house king Habstrakt. The weekend also features sets from Midnight Tyrannosaurus\, Rated R\, Seth David\, Pretty Sweet\, PYKE\, and more. Reno’s own Kill Your Utopia and JARS will hold it down for the hometown scene. \nThe 18+ event will run from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM each day and feature immersive stage design\, large-scale art\, food vendors\, and a community-forward atmosphere alongside the Truckee River beneath the open Reno sky. \n2-Day tickets are on sale now\, starting at $110 for General Admission and $140 for VIP\, which comes with expedited entry\, a VIP viewing area\, and VIP-exclusive bar.
