The event takes place on Friday\, May 8\, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. in the multi-purpose room at South Tahoe Middle School. \nNow in its third year\, STEM Discovery Night is open to students in kindergarten through 12th grade and their families. The evening features hands-on tinkering stations\, robotics demonstrations\, interactive exhibits\, and a pop-up “Discovery Museum” experience. In April\, he presented 1881 to 1951\, and on May 19\, he will present 1952 to the present. \nBefore there was a Lake Tahoe Unified School District\, another school system existed\, made up of one-room schoolhouses\, a warehouse\, and a barn. Students rode the train to school. It was the Lake Valley School District. \nWho were the people involved?\nWho were the students?\nWhy did the Lake Valley School District end? \nLearn the answers to these questions in Part II of Larry’s presentation. \nThe presentation is free\, and refreshments will be served. All are welcome. \nIf you have photos or memorabilia from your school days in South Lake Tahoe\,\nplease share them at this gathering. \nAll are welcome. Flag placement will take place on Friday\, May 22\, at 10 a.m.\, with flag removal scheduled for Tuesday\, May 26\, also at 10 a.m. Families\, friends\, and community members of all ages are encouraged to participate in this meaningful tradition. \nThe Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony will be held Monday\, May 25\, 2026\, at 11 a.m. at Happy Homestead Cemetery\, located at 1261 Johnson Blvd in South Lake Tahoe. The ceremony serves as a time for reflection\, gratitude\, and remembrance as the community comes together to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation. \nFollowing the ceremony\, attendees are invited to gather at American Legion Post 795\, located at 2748 Lake Tahoe Blvd\, for light refreshments and fellowship. \nAmerican Legion Post 795 has proudly served the South Lake Tahoe community for decades and continues its mission of supporting veterans\, active military\, and the local community through events\, programs\, and service. \nAll events are open to the public
