Wind gusts snap trees throughout South Lake Tahoe

UPDATE 11PM: High winds snapped trees throughout South Lake Tahoe Thursday causing localized power outages and keeping tree removal and utility crews busy. A high wind warning for Lake Tahoe was issued by the National Weather Service in Reno and was set to expire Thursday night.

Forest Service responds to rekindling of prescribed fire unit on Kingsbury Grade

UDPATE12:45PM: A prescribed fire on Upper Kingsbury Grade conducted two weeks ago rekindled, touching off about 14 acres before it was fully contained late this morning, according to the U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit.
"The fire is 100 percent contained," said spokeswoman Cheva Heck.

Tahoe Magic fundraiser at Coyote Grill

A chili dinner is set for Dec. 1, at Coyote Grill in the Round Hill Plaza to benefit Tahoe Magic, a South Shore Lake Tahoe organization formed in 1992 that serves families and individuals in the Tahoe community that are in need of temporary financial assistance.
