Whether it’s sharing the road with bicyclists during the summer or using four wheel drive or chains in winter, even seasoned drivers will tell you mountain driving isn’t the flat lands with its share of switch backs and blind spots, steep hills and wildlife.
Weather conditions change how we drive Sierra roads and in winter chains and snow tires are certainly a given factor when crossing mountain passes in snowy conditions. Caltrans and the Nevada Department of Transportation are good places to start before you even hit the road with up to the minute reports on travel conditions.

Forest Service extends Meyers Landfill closure for public safety

The U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit reminds snowmobilers, snowshoers, cross-country skiers, mountain bikers, off-highway vehicle users and other recreationists that the Meyers Landfill site off Pioneer Trail near South Lake Tahoe remains closed due to safety hazards.

Engaging activities will provide your child an opportunity to learn about the science of winter. Children will conduct scientific experiments, view snowflakes under a microscope, take a snow-core and determine the water content of snow, learn about wind chill and why some animals hibernate, and much more.

Movie Review: 'The Sitter' has some moments but not many

"The Sitter," billed as a black comedy and currently flickering at Heavenly Village Cinema at South Shore Lake Tahoe, is mercifully only 81 minutes long, but that's long enough to spell disaster to any discriminating movie goer.
