Tahoe Douglas, East Fork firefighters make significant holiday contributions

Local 3726, right, presented their donations to Kathy Thompson, the managing director of the Carson Valley Community Food Closet in Gardnerville, Nev., on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011. The Tahoe Douglas Firefighter's Association donated $1500 worth of gifts to three local families, a $500 check and 200 pounds of food to the food closet and the East Fork Professional Firefighters donated 14 complete holiday family dinners and 600 pounds of food to the food closet.

Orthopedic physicians and the athletic training staff from Tahoe Orthopedics & Sports Medicine are working to combat the impact of concussions affecting young athletes in the region through a computerized test called ImPACT (Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment Testing).
