Driver arrested after crashing into motel

On December 16th at 8:30 AM, the South Lake Tahoe Police Department and South Lake Tahoe Fire Department responded to a traffic collision on Cedar Ave. When they arrived on scene, they found a white Toyota pickup had crashed into the back side of the Ski Haus Lodge located at 977 Park Ave. The Toyota stuck a natural gas main that was spewing gas into the lodge and the odor could be smelled a block away.

The Winter Holiday Anti-DUI crackdown has resulted in a significant number of DUI arrests from local routine traffic enforcement and special Avoid the 6 DUI deployments overnight in South Lake Tahoe.
From 12:01 AM Friday December 16, 2011 through Sunday night, December 18th, 2011 officers from the So Lake Tahoe Police Department have arrested 4 individuals for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. In 2010 5 DUI arrests occurred during the same weekend.

Nevada’s November jobless rate falls to 13 percent

The unemployment rate for veterans aged 20 to 24 has averaged 30 percent this year, more than double that of others the same age, though the rate for older veterans closely matches that of civilians, the New York Times reports.

Shoppers who visit the just-opened Lake Tahoe Books and Art store in the Village Center won’t just be tackling their holiday gift lists — they’ll also be part of an experiment.
The store, which will be open through December and possibly longer, is in part a test to see if there is enough community support for a permanent, full-service bookstore at the South Shore.
