An old friend of mine gave me some advice years ago. He said to always, “write angry but always edit calmly.“ That’s what I’ve done with this letter.

Wednesday night we went to see the Frozen play at Tahoe Valley Elementary School where our daughter was the director. We brought our granddaughter and our son. When we arrived, a man was standing at a table. At first, we thought he was selling play tickets, but it turned out he was one of Councilman Scott Robbins' minions, asking people who approached, as we did if they were for affordable housing. Who would say no to that?

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - While Lake Tahoe and the rest of California and Nevada are outside of the Path of Totality, there will still be a glimpse of the solar eclipse on Monday, April 8.

As the moon passes in front of the face of the sun, the light from the sun is blocked. The path of Totality is 115 miles wide, and 10,000 miles long from Mexico to Newfoundland, passing over 15 states in its path. But, that doesn't mean the rest of us will miss out. If under its path, people will experience over four minutes of totality, which means total darkness and a drop in temperatures....

Colorectal cancer is among the most common types of cancer. It arises from abnormal growth of cells in the lining of the colon or rectum, forming polyps that can become cancerous over time. While it is a potentially deadly disease, early detection through preventative screenings can significantly increase the chances of successful treatment.

The Vacancy Tax initiative to tax 'vacant' second homes in South Lake Tahoe at a $6000 yearly rate is extraordinarily unfair to property owners who are not full-time residents in the city, yet who maintain their homes not as speculative ventures, but as intimate private family abodes.

The characterization of all such homes by the initiative as 'housing units' depersonalizes what to many of us are just extensions of our primary residences, albeit used intermittently, and exemplifies the callousness of the initiative's supporters.

STATELINE, Nev. - After passionate public input, the Burke Creek Restoration Project on Rabe Meadow at Lake Tahoe is being amended, and much of the change is thanks to a little guy nicknamed Beaver Burke.

While sections of the creek restoration have already been completed upstream, across US50, the section closest to Lake Tahoe was gaining attention because of the home pond and dam of the beaver named Burke by its fan club.
