Amador County man arrested in Reno after Pine Grove woman's body found

1/22/21 UPDATE: The murder suspect Jerry Lee Adams Jr. has been arrested in Reno. For the past two days, investigators from the Amador County Sheriff's Office followed up on multiple tips regarding the suspect's whereabouts. On Friday, January 22, 2021, they developed information that Adams was possibly in the Reno area. This information was provided to the Reno Police Department and at approximately 4:00 p.m., Adams was located inside a Reno area casino and arrested for the murder of Savana Lee Burger. Adams will remain in custody in Washoe County, where he will await extradition to Amador County.
"We want to thank the Reno Police Department for their assistance, as well as the community who provided us invaluable information," said the Sheriff's Office on their Facebook page.
AMADOR COUNTY, Calif. - Pine Grove resident Jerry Lee Adams Jr., is being sought as a suspect in the murder of 27-year-old Savana Lee Burger whose body was found almost three months after she disappeared.
On Friday, October 23, 2020, deputies from the Amador County Sheriff's Office (ACSO) began investigating a missing person's report after it was filed by Burger's mother. She was concerned since Savana missed an important court date. At that time, deputies could ascertain the missing woman was last in the area of West Point, California after cell phone data pointed them to the community south of SR88.
Investigators with the help of members of the county's search and rescue team searched multiple areas and gathered evidence from several locations in and around West Point.
On Saturday, January 16, 2021, investigators and crime scene technicians searched an area near West Point with the assistance of ACSO Search and Rescue, Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office detectives and Search and Rescue, Placer County Sheriff’s Office and Search and Rescue, cadaver dog teams from C.A.R.D.A., and W.O.O.F. Search Dog teams. Searchers located human remains along with other evidence during their search. ACSO investigators and crime scene technicians from worked through the weekend collecting evidence.
The remains have been identified through rapid D.N.A. testing as the missing Pine Grove resident, Savana Lee Burger.
An arrest warrant was obtained on January 19 and on the 20th, the ACSO S.W.A.T. team with the assistance of patrol and investigations personnel attempted to serve an arrest warrant on Climax Road near Pioneer Drive in Pine Grove but did not locate the suspect.
At this time, ACSO is actively looking for 44-year-old Pine Grove resident Jerry Lee Adams Jr. as a suspect in the murder of Savana Lee Burger. If anyone has information you may call the Amador County Secret Witness program at 209-223-4900 or the Amador County Sheriff’s Office at 209-223-6500.
According to a source, there is a possibility Adams could be in the Lake Tahoe area.
