South Lake Tahoe fundraiser for Health 2 Humanity

Event Date:
May 9, 2015 - 5:00pm

What started as a project started in a Southern California dorm room by a South Tahoe High graduate has grown into an organization that helps out those in need throughout Africa.

John Cefalu was just 18 years old when he started making soap in his dorm room. He decided to leave the world better than he had found it. Those small efforts in the dorm were the beginnings of Health 2 Humanity.

There will be a fundraiser for the organization at the South Lake Tahoe boutique hotel, Park 968, this Saturday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event will include live music performed by South Tahoe High School students and alumni, a guest speaker, and a silent auction. The evening will start with a jazz ensemble, then the guest speaker, and will finish with one solo musician and the last 15 minutes will be dedicated to announcing the winners of the silent auction. Tickets for the event may be purchased at Grass Roots and Gaialicious for $10 and will also be sold at the door.

Health 2 Humanity aims to create natural soap that directly gives back to address global health inequality. By promoting clean lifestyles and economic advancement in the developing world through sustainable vocational programs, we work toward creating a healthier, more hopeful future – one soap bar at a time.

Health 2 Humanity’s intent is simple: prevent illness and improve the quality of life by offering affordable, natural soap made from our homemade recipe to those who need it most.
