SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Firefighters from several agencies responded to a fire on the Timber Cove pier Thursday, quickly putting out the flames seen underneath the Boathouse restaurant.

The two-alarm fire came in at approximately 11:15 a.m. South Lake Tahoe Police Department was first to arrive and they evacuated the Timber Cove Marina and the restaurant. All on-duty firefighters and chiefs from South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue (SLTFR) responded along with assistance from Lake Valley Fire and Tahoe Douglas Fire.

The fire was put out right away and there were no injuries reported.

The marina and restaurant are both closed until further notice, per the City Building Inspector. The heaviest damage is near an electrical panel near a refrigerator unit below the restaurant, under the pier. The cause of the fire is under investigation by Fire Marshal Eric Guevin, of Tahoe Douglas Fire District with the assistance of an SLTFR Investigator.

Interim Fire Chief Jim Drennan said, “I am proud of our crews for making a quick stop on the fire and thankful for our neighboring agencies for their assistance.”
