Yankees come out on top at South Lake Tahoe Babe Ruth Championship

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - It was a big weekend of baseball in South Lake Tahoe with the Babe Ruth league championship games. In a thrilling final matchup on Sunday, the Yankees beat the Cubs, 10-7. The Cubs couldn't overcome an early deficit, secured by the Yankees taking the lead with a well-executed double by Ryland Wright in the second inning.

Although the Cubs fell short in the end, they put up a valiant effort, collecting four hits in a game dominated by offense. The Yankees managed to rack up an impressive total of 11 hits on their way to triumph.

On the pitching side, Lincoln Alford took the mound for the Yankees, delivering a solid performance. Alford lasted two innings, allowing two runs on one hit and striking out two Cubs batters.

On the mound for the Cubs was Parker Bryant with Lucas Herrera in relief. later took over in relief.

Among the Cubs hitters, Parker Bryant, Cameron Friederici, Spencer Chen, and Tristan Lewis each contributed with a single hit. The Yankees also showcased their offensive strength, amassing 11 hits throughout the game. PJ Erdody, Danny Aguila, and Angelo Abbondandolo stood out with multiple hits for the Yankees.

Despite the Cubs' efforts to stage a comeback, the Yankees proved too powerful, securing a well-deserved victory. Both teams exhibited strong offensive displays, making the game an exciting and high-scoring affair for the spectators, said Babe Ruth organizers. The Yankees went 9-4 this season and clinched the title of South Tahoe Babe Ruth Champions. They were coached by David Turner and Frank Abbondandolo.
