Over 2,000 cars drove through a July 4 sobriety check point in Douglas County on US 50 at Spooner Summit.
There were 22 drivers who were pulled over to a secondary screening during the check point which lasted from 2:30 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. Of those, three were arrested for driving under the influence of drugs, one for driving under the influence of alcohol and one person was arrested on an outstanding warrant.
During the entire month of July law enforcement agencies all across the State Of Nevada will be increasing their numbers of officer and troopers on the roadways in a continued effort to curb driving under the influences of alcohol and or drugs. As a reminder motorists can be stopped and arrest for driving under the influence of prescribed medication if they advised to not operated heavy machinery or operate a vehicle. Certain prescribed medications have the same or similar effects on motorists as do illegal substances.
