Motorcyclist dies in Wednesday morning collision in South Lake Tahoe

7/22 UPDATE: The California Highway Patrol has identified the man who died in Wednesday's crash. Charles Idell, of South Lake Tahoe, was northbound on his 2007 Yamaha on Black Bart Avenue at 6:48 a.m. when he collided with a vehicle pulling out from Hank Monk Avenue, making a left-hand turn onto Black Bart. The collision is under investigation.
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A 47-year-old male died Wednesday morning after colliding with a vehicle in South Lake Tahoe.
At 6:48 a.m., the California Highway Patrol and other first responders were called to the area of Black Bart Avenue and Hank Monk Avenue on the report of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of the two roads between a Yamaha motorcycle and a Toyota pickup truck.
The driver of the motorcycle was traveling north on Black Bart Avenue at an unknown rate of speed. As he approached the intersection with Hank Monk Avenue, The driver of the pickup was making a left-hand turn onto Black Bart. As they made the turn the motorcycle collided with the left side of the pickup.
The man on the Yamaha was transported to Barton Memorial Hospital where they later succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the Toyota, a 40-year-old female, was also transported to Barton with minor injuries.
Both of the people involved are from South Lake Tahoe.
This collision is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol. The identity of the deceased is not being released pending next-of-kin notification.
