Nicole Chesher Marsel ~ November 18, 1983 – June 25, 2024

Nicole Chesher Marsel, age 40, of South Lake Tahoe, California, passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2024. Nicole was born in Arlington Heights, IL, grew up in Cary, IL, and moved to South Lake Tahoe ten years ago, where she made a profound impact on the community.

Nicole had a bright spirit, one that shined on so many. She was fearless and an exceptionally amazing woman. Her work at the Boys & Girls Club of Lake Tahoe and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada was truly touching. Nicole often spoke about the importance of supporting our youth's positive development, believing deeply in helping them grow, love, and learn. She strived to create events that raised needed funds for programs that benefitted these communities like the Tahoe BrewFest and annual Boys and Girls Club Golf Tournament. This was her purpose, and she dedicated herself wholeheartedly to it.

Beyond her professional contributions, Nicole was a beloved daughter, sister, Auntie, and friend. She was a pillar of support, loyalty and love. She built strong, lasting relationships and was always there to listen, provide a laugh, or lend a helping hand. Nicole led her life by example, always demonstrating kindness, generosity, and a fun, positive spirit. She loved deeply, with a heart made of beautiful gold, leaving an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Finding joy in every season, Nicole embraced all that South Lake Tahoe had to offer. She loved snowboarding and cross-country skiing in the winter, walking her dog, Rooster, along the beaches, and swimming in the lake. In the summer, and even the cooler fall months, she could often be found wake surfing, mountain biking, or adventuring anywhere around Lake Tahoe.

Despite her courageous battle with stage IV cancer, Nicole lived each day to the fullest with an unwaveringly strong and positive attitude; and she never gave up. Her strength, resilience, and zest for life were an inspiration to all who knew her. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched. Nicole is with us every day, always guiding us to lead our best lives possible - to BE RAD and to SEND IT - just as she did.

Nicole is survived by her mother, Carolyn (Carry) Marsel, her brother Ryan, sister-in-law Bre, and their children Francesca, Penelope, Conrad, and Campbell, beloved dog, Rooster, and a wide circle of friends and family who will miss her dearly.

Nicole’s celebration of life will be held on Sunday, August 18, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at MacDuff’s Pub. This open house invites all who wish to join in sharing their cherished memories and fun stories about Nicole with her family and friends.
