SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Lake Tahoe Historical Society hosts another Tahoe History Talks on the Beach on Tuesday, August 6 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Lakeview Commons. This week's speaker is local urbanized black bear expert Toogee Sielsch. He taught himself bear behavior during morning walks in the 1990s and is now South Lake Tahoe's bear authority.
Always entertaining, Toogee (pronounced 2-G) will talk about the black bear's history on the South Shore, why numbers have grown over the last decade, and how people can be better stewards in keeping bears safe.
He will also be highlighting the mountain lions in South Lake Tahoe, and their activity levels.
The event is free but donations are accepted.
Lakeview Commons is located on the corner of Lakeview Avenue and Lake Tahoe Blvd., South Lake Tahoe. The group gathers on the western end steps of El Dorado Beach.
The season of Tahoe History Talks on the Beach wraps up on August 13 when the evening is co-hosted with the Tahoe Area Sierra Club and the subject is the aging communication cable running under the lake, and what is being done to remove it.
