"Speed dating" event to match community members to nonprofits in need of board members

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The El Dorado Community Foundation (EDCF) is looking for community members who are interested in learning more about local nonprofits, and possibly serving as board members.

EDCF is hosting the second annual South Lake Tahoe non-profit "speed dating" event on Wednesday, Oct. 4 from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Club of Lake Tahoe at 1100 Lyons Ave.

This event was a big hit last year as they introduced non-profits to interested and dedicated community members in an effort to help them find board members for the amazing work they do in the community.

This is a free event, with food and drink, for the first 30 nonprofits and 30 community members who sign up.

Once signed up for the event, more information will be sent via email about the logistics, but the basics are as follows:

EDCF will match nonprofits and community members based on their interests in a speed dating setting.

Nonprofits will have a few minutes to share their mission and the amazing work they do, and community members will have a few minutes to share who they are and what/where they are willing to help out.

The time required to serve on a non-profit board is wide-ranging…from monthly meetings to only once a quarter. That’s only four times a year!

No experience is necessary.

A lot of boards provide training and EDCF even has free training available to learn more about non-profit operations.

And remember, there is no commitment required if you attend.
