COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. -El Dorado County health officials say another six residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since yesterday. Of those, three are in the Lake Tahoe Region, and three in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue. In this group of new cases are five aged 18-49 and one aged 50-64.

Another 252 people were tested for the coronavirus and 246 negative tests results were received.

There have been another four assumed recoveries. There has been no change in hospitalizations/ICU (0/0) and there are no suspected cases of COVID-19 in the hospital.

To date, two residents have died.

El Dorado County is currently in the red/substantial tier of reopening. To move to the orange/moderate tier, the average daily rate of new cases needs to be four per 100,000 residents, and positivity rate of less than five percent for the previous two weeks. See more HERE.

The County dashboard shows cases by episode date, not by the date El Dorado County Public Health was notified about the new case. Episode date is the earliest of the following dates: (symptom onset date, diagnosis date, specimen collection date, date received, or date of death) and serves as the best approximation of the date of infection.

The 7-day positivity rate for El Dorado County is 2.3 percent, and the 14-day rate of new cases is 43 (+0). The Lake Tahoe region moved from the High (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 100 or greater) to moderate with much of the rest of the county (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 26-99). Three areas are now in the low range (25 or less per 100,000 for last 14 days).

County-wide there have been 1,019 cases with 456 of those in the Lake Tahoe area (including South Lake Tahoe, Meyers, Strawberry, and Tahoma).

Quad-Counties - Carson City, Douglas, Storey, Lyon

Carson City Health and Human Services (CCHHS) is reporting six new cases and nine additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 1,106, with 998 recoveries and fifteen deaths, 93 cases remain active.

The new cases are:
• An adult female Lyon County resident in her teens with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Carson City resident in his 50’s with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Douglas County resident in her 60’s with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Carson City resident in her 20’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Douglas County resident in her 40’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Douglas County resident in her 60’s with a connection to a previously reported case.

Carson City Health and Human Services is working to identify close risk contacts to prevent further spread of the disease. Due to medical privacy requirements and to protect their identity, no further information about the cases will be released.

There is one more drive-thru COVID-19 testing event for Quad-County residents next week. Testing is free of charge; first come, first served, no appointments or reservations.

Washoe County

The Regional Information Center is reporting 40 new COVID-19 cases and no new deaths in Washoe County since yesterday.

There have been 18 new cases of confirmed COVID-19 in Placer County since Tuesday.

Lake Tahoe area cases - 23 (+0) are in Tahoe City, 83 (+3) in Kings Beach, 9 (+1) in Olympic Valley, 17 (+0) in Truckee, 8 (+1) in Carnelian Bay.

Their seven-day test rate is 5.3 percent positive, and average daily case rate for last 7 days is 5.9 per 100,000. Seven-day increase is 5.1 percent, 14-day increase is 12.8 percent.
