New duplex project being built in South Lake Tahoe providing 14 two-story units

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Construction is underway on a new 14-unit multi-family rental complex in South Lake Tahoe at the Y. Tahoe Valley at Barton is the new project and is being built between Barton Avenue and Helen Avenue off Third Street.

Chad Downey of Provision Properties LLC is building Tahoe Valley at Barton on an undeveloped .98-acre parcel. There will be seven duplex buildings, four accessed from Helen Avenue, and three accessed from Barton Avenue. The project includes new landscaping and new sidewalks. Each side of the duplex will be about 1,300 square feet, have three bedrooms, and two baths and they are all two stories. They will be priced at the market rate.

Since the proposed project is located in a designated Town Center in the City of South Lake Tahoe, there is a mixture of uses it can have including tourist, commercial, intensive recreation, high-density residential, and mixed-use residential.

The development of the proposed multi-family dwelling project is consistent with the City Council's strategic priorities to provide a spectrum of housing needs and ensure housing availability for people of all economic, physical, social, and employment circumstances.

"This is just what we're looking for in terms of multi-family housing," said Planning Commissioner Natalia Wieczorek during the project's October 2021 approval. "Sounds like a great addition to our community."

Downey previously built an 8-unit project on 12th Street, and six duplexes four of which are on Pioneer Trail. He said they all provide local housing, just as this new project will.
