Temperatures could be closer to normal by the end of the week at Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - High-pressure buckles and breaks down over the next couple of days as weak shortwaves sweep through the Sierra and western Nevada. For the most part, warm and dry conditions prevail, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno.

There is high confidence for winds to ramp up for the end of the week with wind gusts in the 25-35 mph range. While cooling temperatures will allow for higher daytime humidity values, keep an eye on the end of the week for possible fire weather concerns.

To start the week, daytime highs will remain warm for this time of year and there is a chance for afternoon thunderstorms to form along the Sierra.
