GoFundMe fundraisers started for two firefighters injured in CAL FIRE vehicle fire

Emmet Freeman and Austin Palmiere have been identified as the two men who were burned during a fire at their CAL FIRE Placerville quarters. One of their vehicles had caught fire and they ran outside to extinguish it. Those in the area have reported hearing an explosion.

The two worked for the Amador-El Dorado Unit and were assigned to the Placerville Fire Center. After the fire, they were transported to the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento.

Emmet Freeman from South Lake Tahoe was burned on his face and his hands and had his first skin grafting surgery Thursday. His fiance has been by his side at the burn center.

"Emmet is one of the nicest guys you will meet," said his friend Ty who started a GoFundMe pafe for Emmet. "He has a contagious sense of humor and smile."

He is expected to make a full recovery, but the road to that recovery is going to take a long time. Medical bills will also be a major obstacle that he will also overcome. said Ty.
