SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Greater Lake Tahoe Area which includes South Lake Tahoe, Tahoe City, Truckee, Stateline, Markleeville, Glenbrook, and Incline Village.
The advisory is in effect from 10 p.m. Wednesday to 4 p.m. Thursday.
Expect snow with snow accumulations of 1 to 4 inches at lake level, and 4 to 8 inches above 7000 feet. Up to 10 inches can be seen locally on the highest peaks. Ridge winds will be gusting as high as 90 mph. Expect southwest winds of 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph and wave heights of 1 to 3 feet on Lake Tahoe. Before the storm, expect mostly sunny, with a high near 52, then later dropping to a low of 23.
This is a quick-hitting cold storm and a wetter, but warmer storm is tracking Friday evening through Saturday with snow impacts for mountain areas and rain with gusty winds for valleys. There have been no warnings or advisories issued at this time.
NWS Reno says a third storm is possible Monday into Tuesday but they have low confidence that it will amount to anything.
