South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue, in conjunction with Lake Valley Fire Protection District and Cal Fire, is pile burning on ten acres around the airport. The burning caused some concern from residents who saw the flames and smoke in Johnson Meadow.

The ignition was December 11 with the first five acres, and the operation with smoke will go into Thursday when another five acres are burned.
