SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - If anyone had any doubt, it will be a white Christmas at Lake Tahoe in 2021. Mother Nature is providing the heavy snow in the Sierra as forecast, and there are several headaches on the roadways as holiday travelers make their way to and from Lake Tahoe.

Vehicles stuck in the snow at Emerald Bay on SR89 have resulted in the closure of the road, and expect more issues as the storm stays over the Sierra. A Winter Storm Warning is in place through December 26 at 4:00 p.m.

Another 8"-16" of snow is forecast at South Lake Tahoe Thursday, 3"-7" on Christmas Eve, and 6"-12" on Christmas Day. If traveling, keep an eye on all road and weather conditions.

The power was out to a small segment of Meyers and Upper Kingsbury today. Liberty Utilities says 59 customers are still without power at this time. NV Energy says the 720 customers without power are estimated to be restored by 3:30 p.m. A vehicle accident caused that outage.
