Go Fund Me fundraiser set up for South Lake Tahoe area woman

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A GoFundMe account has been set up for a local woman who is in a fight against lung cancer.

Kimberly Templeton has made it her life’s mission to give back to the communities she has lived and worked in, and now she is in need of help from those communities.

She has been instrumental in the planning and execution of many fundraisers for community members in need. She has served on many non-profit boards such boards as Tahoe Youth & Family Services, Soroptimist International of South Lake Tahoe, Boys & Girls Club of Lake Tahoe, and Special Olympics of Northern California & Nevada. She is also a member of the Tahoe Douglas Rotary Club.

Three months ago Kimberly’s life changed dramatically when she was diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer. Her team of doctors is approaching this with a proactive treatment plan as Kimberly is healthy and capable of aggressive treatment. She has already undergone a lobectomy as well as removed affected lymph nodes to remove the cancerous cells. In addition to the surgery, she will undergo monthly chemotherapy treatment for the next three years to get ahead of any potential growth. She is strong and her friends and family are positive that she will beat this.

Over the past two years, it has become more evident that positivity is instrumental in reducing stress and in turn the severity of physical ailments.

Her friend Michelle Turner of South Lake Tahoe has organized the GoFundMe fundraiser as a way to stand alongside Kimberly and offer support to reduce her stress, so she can focus on healing.
