There are 761 hydrants in the Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District (TDFPD) and they are looking for residents to “adopt” them by making sure they are shoveled out after each storm and kept cleared all winter.
The Nevada water districts and TDFPD urge everyone to get involved and join the effort by adopting a hydrant near their residence.
To sign up, visit http://www.tahoefire.org/prevention/adopt-a-hydrant.
If you adopt, TDFPD asks that you keep your hydrant:
VISIBLE AND ACCESSIBLE
