There is an increase in illegal sales of tobacco products in El Dorado County, including South Lake Tahoe.
County health and law enforcement officials released the results of a recent operation where trained youth volunteers, aged 14-17, went into stores to purchase cigarettes. Of the 142 retail stores the youth went into, 32 stores sold them tobacco.
