CARSON CITY — With U.S. Sen. Harry Reid’s 5th annual National Clean Energy Summit set to kick off today in Las Vegas, the debate over alternative energy development and the government’s role in its future rages on.

The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency, Regional Plan Update Committee, received on August 2nd 2012 the California-Nevada Consultation, Regional Plan Update Recommendations presented by Nevada Director of Conservation and Natural Resources, Leo Drozdoff and California Secretary for Natural Resources, John Laird. Following is a 6-minute segment of their remarks compiled from their 30-minute presentation. The segment opens with John Laird speaking about “the plan”— meaning the Tahoe Regional Plan.

The Lake Tahoe Federal Advisory Committee (LTFAC) is scheduled to meet from 9 a.m. to noon, August 9, 2012, at the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit, 35 College Drive, South Lake Tahoe, Calif., 96150. LTFAC will address issues related to federal activities at Lake Tahoe.
Items on the agenda include an update on Lake Tahoe Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act projects, a presentation from the Sugar Pine Foundation, and public comment. Members of the public interested in finding out more about the LTFAC are welcome to attend the meeting.

The Tri-NET Narcotic Task Force, working in conjunction with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Street Enforcement Team (SET), the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Investigators, and the Santa Cruz California Police Department arrested 26 year-old Joseph Perez and 25 year-old Oscar Madriz, both of Santa Cruz, California, on charges of trafficking and sales of cocaine.
