Auditions for children's virtual musical, Super Happy Awesome News
Submitted by paula on Sun, 01/10/2021 - 7:35pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Black Ice Theater Company's Children's Theatre Program is holding auditions for the virtual musical play, "Super Happy Awesome News." To audition for the March 2021 production, parents will need to submit a video of their young thespian singing their favorite song for at least 30 seconds. The song choice can be anything from "Happy Birthday" to "Jingle Bells."
Submissions will be accepted for children ages 8-14. Please include the child's name and the role they are interested in, if any, and email to info@blackicetheatreco.com by January 15, 2021.
Radio drama makes a comeback with KNVC's Secrets of Harridge House
Submitted by paula on Wed, 11/11/2020 - 10:54pmIn the days before television, the internet, cell phones and video games, families would gather around the radio each evening and listen to Sorry Wrong Number, Moon Over Morocco, Dragnet, The Adventures of the Thin Man, The Shadow, Flash Gordon, and War of the Worlds.
With no visual component, radio drama depended on dialogue, music and sound effects to help the listener imagine the characters and the story. Each episode would leave listeners wanting more and the level of anticipation grew as the next airing date grew closer.
Missoula Children’s Theatre auditions for The Tortoise Versus the Hare

If the performer is selected to be in the play there is $50 charge per child.

Tahoe Arts Project is hosting the Missoula Children's Theater again in 2019, and this summer's performance will be Jack in the Beanstalk.
On July 8, auditions will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at Tahoe Valley Elementary. Then, the children selected will start rehearsals that afternoon, depending on which role they have.
There are over 60 roles for youth ages 5-17 (the 5-year-olds must have completed kindergarten). The auditions are free but if selected for a role the cost is $50 per child to participate.
Missoula Children’s Theatre auditions coming soon for Robin Hood

All children age five and above in grades K-12 are invited to the tryouts. No advance preparation is needed.
Auditions for Robin Hood will be held on Monday, Nov. 5 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Tahoe Valley Elementary School's Multi-Purpose Room. There are roles for approximately 60 children in K-12th grade.
Pulitzer prize-winning 'night, Mother opens at Duke Theatre in South Lake Tahoe

Friday, August 24 is opening night and the play will run at the Lake Tahoe Community College's Duke Theatre for two weekends.
Jessie, the daughter, has moved back home after a divorce and is depressed and is done with life and wants to end hers. Her relationship with mother Thelma is explored during the 90-minute play that is full of drama, dark comedy and emotion.

The Tahoe Arts Project is bringing the Missoula Children’s Theatre back to South Lake Tahoe next week and there are rolls for 50-60 local students in grades 1-12. This year they will be rehearsing and performing Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
Its a whirlwind week with auditions are on Monday, July 9 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (some cast members will rehearse right after auditions, 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m). Practices are held Tuesday through Thursday 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and the shows are on Friday, July 13 at 3:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Missoula Children's Theatre returns to South Lake Tahoe for the 39th time

For the past 38 years, Missoula Children's Theatre has been coming to South Lake Tahoe, transforming youth into actors and actresses in just a few days.
This year the production is Alice in Wonderland.
Auditions will be held on Monday, July 10 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at South Tahoe Middles School's multi-purpose room (STMS MPR). Approximately 50-60 local children will be cast to appear in the show.

There are over 60 roles for local youth ages 5-17 who are already in school. For those unfamiliar with the production, the theater group comes to town on a Monday for auditions, holds rehearsals Tuesday through Friday, then have two performances on Saturday.

South Lake Tahoe's Beth Tschantre tries out for American Idol

The 25-year-old from South Lake Tahoe will make her American Idol debut on Thursday night's show when the San Francisco auditions are highlighted. The show is on FOX from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Tschantre can't say much about what happens as she's bound by a confidentiality agreement, but she can say her segment starts tonight and goes into next week.

The Tahoe Arts Project once again presents the Missoula Children's Theatre, this year with their production of Peter and Wendy.
It is a busy week-long experience for children ages 5 to 17. They will start off with auditions for over 60 roles on November 2 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Rehearsals are Tuesday through Thursday, November 3-6, then a production on Saturday, November 7 at 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.

My name is Kimberly Vela and I am producing an independent film called "Flounder."
This film follows a young boy as he escapes his unfit home and destructive parents. On his quest to find peace in the Sierra Nevada mountains, Isaiah meets interesting and loving characters including John Hudson, a kind-hearted father figure. This journey ends up taking him to the forest where he befriends a group of teenagers who have also run away from home for various reasons to live together as a group, striving on independence from adults.

Auditions will be held on Tuesday, February 17 at the college's Duke Theater. Actors are required to sing selections from Pippin for the audition. South Lake Tahoe entertainer Ashley Kepler and Molly Seals, from Carson City, both tried out for the singing competition.
According to the Reno Gazette Journal, Seals tried out in Reno in July and then moved to the Kansas City auditions in August. She isn't saying whether or not she makes it to the next round so viewers will have to watch to find out.

Auditions are Monday, November 14 from 4:00pm-6:00pm at the South Tahoe Middle School Multi-Purpose Room - With rehearsals from Tuesday-Friday, November 15-18 from 4:00pm-8:30pm depending on role.
Performance is Saturday, November 19 at 2:00pm and 6:00pm.
