Whether you are a water skier, paddleboarder, mountain biker, or hiker, you may engage your hip and core muscles more than you know. Experiencing pain in your lower back, hip, knee, or foot? Perhaps it’s your gluteus medius, a significant, but lesser known muscle.

There are many people in this community that want to see more positive changes made. Those include bike paths, road repair or replacement, more public art, a BMX track, improvements at the Skate Park and other recreational areas. They want more events at Lakeview Commons, like the summer concert series, which the City helps support for the locals and visitors alike. They like the upgrades around Harrison Avenue and free parking lot being built next to the Tribune building. All of these pull millions from the City’s General Fund.

It always seems like every time we turn the corner someone wants more money, from the tax collector to the grocery store owner. There are many in our community that feel parking meters should go away, but I am not one of them.
Trust me, I don't like paying for things that used to be free, but I feel the benefits of having parking meters in place in South Lake Tahoe far outweigh the 'cons.'
Tahoe Area Sierra Club Summer Party

July 17, 2013 - 5:00pm The Tahoe Area Sierra Club's annual Summer Party will be celebrated July 17th at Regan Beach. 5pm to 8pm. The sunset party will include an exhibit by local photographer Jon Paul, music and a silent auction. Gourmet food will be served along with select wine from Naked Wines. Tickets available at Aspen Hollow Nursery, Lake of the Sky Outfitters, Emerald Bay Nursery and League to Save Lake Tahoe.
$35.00 in advance and $40.00 at the door.

South Lake Tahoe City Council approves paid parking areas

The council designated the Regan Beach parking lot, Venice Drive east of Tahoe Keys Boulevard and Lakeshore Boulevard Tuesday as areas where the city could install pay and park kiosks in the future.

Great Sierra Cleanup Saturday around Lake Tahoe

Saturday is the Great Sierra River Cleanup with more than 11,200 volunteers joining together to scour watersheds throughout the Sierra Nevada. Hundreds of community groups will spread across 22 counties and 1,052 river miles to pull appliances, cigarette butts, beverage cans, baby diapers, tires, furniture, and more from the rivers and streams that supply the State of California with 65 percent of its water. This effort, in partnership with the California Coastal Cleanup Day, serves to promote good stewardship on all of our waterways, from the source to the sea.
Volunteers pitch in with Al Tahoe neighborhood clean-up

Neighbors in Al Tahoe participated in a volunteer clean-up effort Saturday as an outcome of their most recent neighborhood meeting. Gerry and Jill Carter were the first to arrive and started collecting trash and debris at Regan Beach.
A local neighbor who was unable to tackle years of mounting debris from previous tenants was the recipient of a group volunteer effort. With the help of a volunteer with a trailer, the group was able to remove an old sofa, dilapidated shed remnants and an assortment of materials which were hauled off the property and created a dramatic improvement.
After-fireworks party cleanup at El Dorado and Regan beaches

Beginning at 6 a.m. volunteers will pick up what everyone else left behind after the fireworks show. The cleanup begins on El Dorado Beach and then moves along to Regan Beach. According to organizer Kenny Curtzwiler, the cleanup usually yields about 40 yards of trash. El Dorado Beach is located on Highway 50 at Lakeview Avenue. The community is invited. Bring gloves.

Seasonal dog ban at Upper Truckee Marsh planned for late spring

For the second straight year the Tahoe Conservancy will enforce a seasonal dog prohibition at the Upper Truckee Marsh at south shore Lake Tahoe. The dog ban is meant to protect sensitive wildlife areas, including threatened and endangered species, during breeding season. The Upper Truckee Marsh provides critical breeding habitat. The dog ban begins May 1.
