Live at Lakeview concert series postponed until 2021
Submitted by paula on Wed, 07/15/2020 - 1:34pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - After Tuesday's announcement that all events on City of South Lake Tahoe property are canceled for 60 days, On Course Events has had to cancel their popular Live at Lakeview Summer Music Series.
Originally scheduled to begin on June 25, 2020, the music series is now on hold until the summer of 2021.
Suicides on the rise in South Lake Tahoe during COVID-19 crisis
Submitted by paula on Tue, 05/26/2020 - 1:27pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - During the months of March and April 2020 there were five suicides in South Lake Tahoe. That equals the total number of suicides in all of 2019 in the community, and one less than in 2018.
There were none in January or February before the coronavirus hit.
Federal CARES Act sends $8.6M to help free Lake Tahoe transit services
Submitted by paula on Wed, 05/13/2020 - 3:43pmLAKE TAHOE, Calif./Nev. - Lake Tahoe transit providers Tahoe Transportation District (TTD) and Tahoe‐Truckee Area Regional Transit (TART) will be getting a boost from the federal government after they received word that $8.6 million form the CARES Act is headed their way. Transit services are especially critical to essential workers during this COVID crisis, the agencies said today.
These funds will help sustain free transit services for the public.
Love of dance helping South Lake Tahoe youth cope with coronavirus seclusion
Submitted by paula on Wed, 03/25/2020 - 9:09amSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Students enrolled at Marcia Sarosik Dance Studio in South Lake Tahoe cannot attend classes in person due to coronavirus restrictions, but they are still enjoying their love of dance with online dance classes.
Marcia Sarosik, better known as Ms. Marcia, has been teaching dance in the community for 41 years and this is the first time she's had to close the studio for an extended period. One of her former students, Chelsea Wightman, created a program for dancers to log onto to stay connected to the studio on James Avenue.

Inn by the Lake changes name to Hotel Azure Tahoe – $3.5 million renovation completed

The hotel located at 3300 Lake Tahoe Blvd., is now called Hotel Azure, a name to match the lake across the street and the skies that surround them.
Hotel Azure has completed extensive renovations with the re-opening of the hotel in time for ski season.
Gorman leaves Tahoe Chamber to pursue new business

She earned a Doctor of Law degree, and, for what most in South Lake Tahoe know her as, she's been the Executive Director of the Lake Tahoe South Shore Chamber of Commerce. As of today, she's left the Chamber and is now preparing for a new career in coaching, leadership and training.

This new way to collect comments on agenda items was unveiled this weekend and is now in place, just in time for the June 2nd council meeting.
Lake Tahoe Paddle Fest June 23-24 at El Dorado Beach
