Soroptimist Club of Tahoe Sierra celebrates women in South Lake Tahoe
Submitted by paula on Wed, 03/18/2020 - 10:18amSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Just as they have for the past 43 years, the Soroptimist International of Tahoe Sierra Club is honoring women and youth in the South Lake Tahoe community. They recently held their annual awards celebration and honored four young women from South Tahoe Middle School and South Tahoe High School as well as four women from the community.
For the GIVE Award, honored were Alexi Haven, Tovah Jordan, Esty Zanetti, and Maiella Riva. The Ruby Award was given to Suzanne Boyer and the Live Your Dream Award was given to Heather Wilson, Olga Zepeda and Kelly Meyer.
Local Soroptimists seek girls in grades 8-12 as G.I.V.E. award candidates

The Soroptimist International clubs of Tahoe Sierra and South Lake Tahoe recognize young women annually through their G.I.V.E. award program (Girls Into Volunteer Experience).
An award of $100 is given to winners of this award and the Soroptimists also give $100 to the organization of the winners' choice.
Soroptimist of Tahoe Sierra fundraiser Saturday: Find out where donations go
Submitted by paula on Wed, 04/18/2018 - 10:18pmMany people donate both money and auction items to the Soroptimist of Tahoe Sierra club for their annual Elegant Evening which occurs on Saturday, April 21. What many don't know is where those donations go. There was question recently in the community about donations, so the club wanted to clear up any misunderstandings.
The club recently created a diagram to better explain where each penny goes as they don't have must left over funds after they issue scholarships, grants and other forms of financial support.

Tallac High and South Tahoe Middle School for their scholastic, community service and personal successes for the past school year.

Each year the two local Soroptimist clubs honor young women in the community ages 14-17 who are engaged in volunteer deeds such as fighting drugs, crime and violence; cleaning up the environment; or working to end discrimination or poverty.
