Free webinar ~ Recreation & Stewardship: Turning a Challenge into an Opportunity

Event Date:
January 30, 2023 - 11:00am

As those in the Lake Tahoe Basin and parks everywhere are aware, ever-growing outdoor recreation presents a complicated challenge - crowding, trash, spiderweb social trails, and wildlife interactions can impact the health and safety of both wildlife and people. The silver lining is that more nature lovers enjoying the outdoors means an ever-growing community and support for the places we love. Community, inclusion, and indigenous respect are paramount.

Join the National Park Service in the "Connected Conservation" webinar mini-series, Recreation & Stewardship: Turning a Challenge into an Opportunity
Monday, Jan. 30, at 2 p.m. ET, or 11 a.m. for those in Lake Tahoe.

Hear from representatives from:

Leave No Trace
Tread Lightly
Recreate Responsibly Coalition
Federal Interagency Council on Outdoor Recreation (FICOR)

Initiatives like Leave No Trace, which focuses on human-powered recreation, and Tread Lightly, which focuses on engine-powered recreation, highlight key principles and practices in an effort to reduce potential recreation impacts. However, mainstreaming responsible recreation and stewardship across boundaries can only be done in a wide-ranging and accessible community which is how the Recreate Responsibly Coalition came to be.

These important efforts and partnerships can be further supported by the new FICO), which will focus on improving access to nature, expanding outdoor recreation opportunities, and providing the public with improved and more affordable experiences on America’s public lands and waters.
