Two men sought in South Lake Tahoe murder

Investigators from the South Lake Tahoe Police Department are looking for two suspects in Saturday night's murder of 40-year-old Dennis Wright, Jr. at the Beverly Lodge. According to SLTPD, Wright and his girlfriend came to South Lake Tahoe from their home in Amador County to sell 100 pounds of marijuana from a room at the motelnwhich is located on Lake Tahoe Blvd.

During the transaction, two unidentified men arrived and attempted to rob Wright and his girlfriend at gunpoint.

The four people struggled in the parking lot of the motel, and Wright was shot multiple times. He later died at Barton Hospital. Wright's girlfriend suffered a head injury.

The two suspects fled in a car after the shooting.

Due to the ongoing investigation, South Lake Tahoe Police Lt. Brian Williams said his department won't release the amount of cash involved at this time, or if the suspects got away with it.

Composite sketches of the suspects have been created and are being circulated along with a photo of they type of car possibly used in the crime.

One suspect has been described as a black male adult, tall approximately 6’-3” and 200 pounds. He is in his late 20’s to early 30’s, has black hair worn in braids or dreadlocks. The second suspect is being described as a black male adult, possibly mixed race with light complexion. He is approximately 5’8”, 170 pounds, in his late 20’s to early 30’s, black hair with tight curls.

There is a vague description of the getaway car, but it may be a tan-colored Chrysler Concorde, 2004 or older sedan, similar to what is pictured here.

The South Lake Tahoe Police Department is asking for assistance from the community to help identify and locate these two suspects. The investigation is active and they have already received assistance from a variety of allied agencies who have questioned several individuals in a number of cities around the northern California area who may be connected to this case.
