Submitted by paula on Sat, 01/30/2016 - 10:39pm
A man was shot and killed at the Beverly Lodge in South Lake Tahoe Saturday night. At about 7:42 p.m. on January 30, 2016, several people called 911 to report shots being fired at the motel which is located at 34780 Lake Tahoe Boulevard.
Officers from the South Lake Tahoe Police Department responded immediately as did an EMS unit from the fire department. Upon arrival they found a man who had been shot, lying on the ground outside one of the rooms at the motel. He was transported to Barton Hospital where he died within a few minutes of arrival.
According to SLTPD Chief Brian Uhler, there is strong preliminary information which supports that this case is not a random act of violence.
As of 10:30 p.m., officers are still at the scene working on various leads. Deputies from El Dorado Sheriff's Office are assisting with crime scene processing and the California Highway Patrol is helping to secure the scene. Several bystanders were standing along the street and in adjacent business parking lots, watching the law enforcement activity.
The name of the deceased person has not been released. No other information is available at this time.
If anyone has information that could assist the investigation they are asked to contact SLTPD at (530) 542-6100.
