At 7:06 a.m. on June 13, NHP Troopers were dispatched to a serious injury crash on US50 near Elks Point Road.

Their preliminary investigation shows that a white 2019 Ford F-150 pickup truck was traveling eastbound on US-50 east of Elks Point Road. The driver of the Ford F-150 allowed the vehicle to cross over the center median lines into oncoming traffic, striking a white 1999 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck towing a utility trailer traveling westbound on US-50. The Ford F-150 came to rest facing northwest blocking both westbound travel lanes. The Chevrolet Silverado came to rest facing east in the right-hand lane of US-50 eastbound. The rear bed portion of the Chevrolet pickup separated from the front cab portion and the utility trailer was not connected to the vehicle.

The driver of the Chevrolet succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. He has been identified as 37-year-old Carson City resident Hugo Parra-Solis. He worked for Kuelper Construction of South Lake Tahoe. A GoFundMe account has been set up to help the family and bank account is in the process of being set up in his name for his wife and children.
