Shooting victim and murder suspect in South Lake Tahoe deadly shooting identified

One man died and his shooter arrested after an argument on Saturday, June 30 in South Lake Tahoe.

Police responded to the 1000 block of Julie Lane shortly before 5:30 p.m. after reports of shots fired. Upon arrival they found 44-year-old Christopher Kitchen of South Lake Tahoe on the road at the entrance to Tahoe Verde Mobile Home Park. Despite life saving measures, Kitchen was prounounced deceased after medics took the victim to Barton Memorial Hospital.

Officers from South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) immediately arrived at the scene and found the suspect, 62-year-old Roy Figaro of South Lake Tahoe, in a house across the street from the shooting, 1073 B Julie Lane.

SLTPD SWAT and CNT teams also descended upon the home, urging Figaro to come out of the home. Nearby residents were evacuated and law enforcement from around the region assisted in blocking streets and keeping people safe during the almost two-hour long standoff.

Figaro eventually came out of the home and was arrested without further incident. SWAT sent in a flashbang and took other measures to make sure there were no other suspects in the house. He has been booked into the El Dorado County Jail on murder charges. There has been no bail set at this time.
