One person airlifted after South Lake Tahoe motorcycle and truck accident

Few details have been released about Sunday evening's accident in South Lake Tahoe that resulted in one person being airlifted to Renown Medical Center in Reno.

The South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) received a phone call at 8:26 p.m. on Sunday, July 5 about an accident between a motorcycle and pick-up truck near the Sno-Flake Drive In.

A motorcyclist and his passenger were headed west on Lake Tahoe Blvd near the intersection with Modesto Avenue. A Nissan truck was attempting to make a left-hand turn from Highway 50 onto Modesto when he struck the motorcycle.

Both people on the motorcycle were thrown several feet. Witnesses at Sno-Flake said the female passenger's helmet was cracked and that she was severely injured.

She was airlifted and the motorcycle driver was transported to Barton with bumps and bruises. The driver of the Nissan had no injuries.

According to SLTPD Sgt. Pierre Herring, the identities of those involved as well as more details may be released on Tuesday morning.
