EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. – The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office (EDSO) has released more information on the New Year’s Day house fire in Somerset.
On January 1, 2025, at approximately 3:50 a.m., EDSO deputies, along with personnel from Cal Fire and Pioneer Fire, responded to a structure fire in the 7000 block of Mt. Aukum Road in Somerset. Several people were in the home at the time of the fire, with all but two making it out.
The two people have been identified as a 15-year-old male and a 14-year-old female. They were both found deceased inside the home once firefighters put out the fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
