SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Greater Lake Tahoe area from 7 a.m. Saturday to 4 p.m. Sunday. There mis another Winter Weather Advisory in place for Reno, Carson City, and the Carson Valley for the same hours.

Lake Tahoe hasn’t seen much measurable snow this winter, and this snow won’t be a huge change to that. Snow accumulations will be between 1 to 4 inches except up to
8 inches for areas above 7000 feet in the Carson Range and Alpine County. Wind gusts up to 35 mph with ridge winds gusting up to 65 mph. Wave heights of 1 to 3 feet on Lake Tahoe are expected.

Snow measurements will vary from Reno to the Carson Valley, from a trace to 3 inches, with up to 6 inches for the foothills and Virginia City. Wind gusts could be up to 30 mph.

Sunday

Snow showers likely, mainly between 10am and 4pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 29. East wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

A 30 percent chance of snow showers, mainly before 10pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 11. East wind around 5 mph. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
