Hello Lake Tahoe! Michelle Gomez here with Tahoe Art League. I had the pleasure of assisting Artist Charlotte Castillo a couple of Fridays ago, at her popular “paint & sip” at Casey’s in Round Hill, Nev. If you’ve never experienced a step-by-step, instructed painting class, now is your time to try! Charlotte leads an engaging and educational 3-hour class, the time flies by with laughter and camaraderie.
A longtime local, she studied fine art at Sonoma State, and has traveled the world studying under well-known professionals. She is no art snob, but rather invites the novice painter into her fold, using expressions like “pushing colors” and “smash and grab” to describe her painting techniques. Her artistic style is vibrant, whimsical and free, just like her personality. This new artist’s comments after her last session say it all: “The absolute best time! Loved every second. Char, you are the best. I will be at every class you do!”
Recently Charlotte and other artists received grants from Tahoe Fund, to paint the interior of public restrooms on National Forest land. Check out her colorful commodes the next time you’re at Sawmill Pond and here is Charlotte’s interview on the Tahoe Fund restroom project. Besides gussying up the bathrooms, you can find her art works for sale at The Landing Resort & Spa, Botanical Arts Company, Will & Ivey Boutique, and Casey’s. It will be held in the living room at Casey’s Round HIll and reservations are required.
