“What a lovely experience,” exclaimed Robin Barnes, a Heavenly Adopt A Day volunteer team member at Bread & Broth’s Monday Meal on February 3. “Prepping and serving meals and ‘take home’ food for our community is as special as the people who greeted us with their warm smiles as they came to have dinner with Bread & Broth.”
Robin and her fellow team members Ashley Kiger, Danielle Rainey, Amy Rice, and Samantha Yates had a great time representing Heavenly at the ski resort’s Adopt A Day of Nourishment (AAD) sponsorship. As AAD volunteers, they helped the Bread & Broth (B&B) volunteers provide a great meal which served 135 dinner guests, a record high for diners served at a Monday Meal.
The B&B cooking team put together a wonderful meal for this momentous occasion.
Starting around noon, the B&B cooking team of 4 volunteers put together a menu of gourmet meatloaf, red potatoes with red bell peppers, a green bean casserole, and a lovely green salad with blueberries, walnuts, and feta cheese. Once the meal was prepared, the AAD team members from Heavenly enjoyed serving the dinner as the dinner guests came into St. Theresa’s Grace Hall for a hot meal and bags filled with fresh fruit and vegetables, meat, dairy products, and a various assortment of food to take home for meals later in the week.
Bread & Broth is very fortunate to have the support of the Vail through their EpicPromise grant and the Heavenly team members who give of their personal time to join the Bread & Broth volunteers in providing theses much needed hot meal and ‘food to go’ services.
“Our Heavenly Team is grateful to be able to help,” added Robin. “See you next time!”
Bread & Broth really enjoys seeing the various Heavenly team members who join us at the Monday Meals every other month as part of the sponsorships provided by Vail’s EpicPromise grant funds. B&B is grateful for our partnership with Vail and its Heavenly Mountain Resort team members.
