DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. – The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has identified the individuals who died in two separate ski incidents on Feb. 20, 2026, at Heavenly Ski Resort.
Nicholas Jamil Haddad, 33, of West Bloomfield, Michigan, and Brian Robert Frias, 57, of Elk Grove, California, died as a result of injuries sustained in unrelated incidents at the resort.

A spokesperson for Heavenly said members of their ski patrol responded to an incident on the intermediate Orion trail involving Haddad, who was then transported to paramedics waiting at Boulder Lodge. After further emergency care and evaluation, he was pronounced deceased.
Frias died after a “Serious medical event” that took place on the Tamarack Return trail. He was also transported by ski patrol to the awaiting Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District EMS staff at the base of Boulder. Following continued emergency care and medical review, he was pronounced deceased.
The cause and manner of death remain under investigation by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
