LAKE TAHOE, Calif./Nev. – Prescribed fire operations continue this week in the Lake Tahoe Basin and will continue as long as conditions allow.
Here are this week’s scheduled prescribed burns:
3/2 – 3/6, California State Parks – A machine pile will be burned at Sugar Pine Point State Park this week along HWY 89 and South Fire Road
3/3 – 3/6, Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District – 4 acres of pile burning along Daggett Summit for Upper Kingsbury Forest Service Urban Lots
3/3 – 3/6, Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District – 5 acres of pile burning along Kingsbury Grade for the Kingsbury/NV Energy Forest Service project
Winter 2026, California Tahoe Conservancy – Carnelian Canyon, Dollar SW, and Tahoe Pines pile burning projects are set to begin in Winter 2026
Residents may experience smoke during the prescribed burns. For more detailed information about air quality, go to AirNow online or download the app. When driving, slow down and turn on your headlights when you encounter smoke on the road.
Fire managers will evaluate weather conditions in the hours before a burn begins. If conditions warrant, scheduled prescribed fire activities may be canceled.
