SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – California State Senator Marie Alvarado-Gil will be holding a Town Hall meeting in South Lake Tahoe on April 2 from noon to 1 p.m at the South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue Training Center, 1195 Rufus Allen Blvd.

Invited are local stakeholders who would like to discuss their wildfire/defensible space programs and any problems, issues, or needs related to fire risk mitigation, management, and insurance.

Senator, Alvarado-Gil is particularly interested in knowing about the Firewise and Fire Adapted Communities programs in the Lake Tahoe Basin, and how they are developed and implemented. She will also be discussing legislation she is currently proposing:

  • A bill is seeking tax credits for home hardening, which has a retroactive component.
  • A bill regarding the California Fair Plan that would provide homeowners with individual home risk assessments instead of assessments based solely on zip codes. This is an opportunity to interact with the Senator and have input on issues of great concern on wildfire risk management in the Basin
