
Members of Soroptimist International of Tahoe Sierra (SITS) handed out checks to 22 different project that are created by non-profits to serve the women and children of South Lake Tahoe on Thursday.
The awardees:
Bijou Community School – Books for Bijou, El Dorado County Habitat for Humanity (A Brush with Kindness), Firefly Yoga, Friends of the Library of El Dorado County – SLT Chapter, Juvenile Services Council, Kiwanis Community Organization – Coats for Kids, Lake Tahoe Shining Stars, LTUSD – Homeless Advocacy, South Lake Tahoe Cancer League – Limited Financial Assistance grant, South Lake Tahoe Family Resource Center – Bijou Community Garden, South Lake Tahoe Humane Society – My Reading Buddy, South Tahoe High Booster Club – Homeless Youth Food and Clothing Room, South Lake Tahoe High School Avid Junior Class, Tahoe Arts Project, Tahoe Coalition for the Homeless, Tahoe Magic, Inc. – Young Tahoe Smiles, Tahoe Turning Point – Healthy Bodies = Healthy Minds, Tahoe Valley Elementary School – Hear Us Roar, Tahoe Valley Elementary School – Performing Arts-Disney’s Lion King Kids, Tahoe Valley Elementary School – Reading Across the Grade Levels, Tahoe Valley Elementary School – Sutter’s Fort Environmental Living Program, Zephyr Cove Tennis Club Foundation – Kids Tennis Clinics.
Funds for the awards come from the club’s annual fundraise,r Elegant Evening, which is being held on Saturday, April 23 at Harrah’s Tahoe at 5:30 p.m.
