SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The Lake Tahoe Unified School District (LTUSD) will be discussing how to reduce expenses by $2.5 million for the 25-26 fiscal year budget. During their Thursday, March 27, meeting, the LTUSD School Board will listen to a presentation by staff on budget development and possibilities for budget reductions.  To find the money, they will explore possibilities including a raise in athlete fees at South Tahoe Middle School and South Tahoe High School, a rise in costs for staff child care or elimination in the program, cutting music and performing arts (though not recommended by staff), a five percent blanket reduction in supplies and contracts, a reduction in the director positions, or an increase on bus fees.

Also on the agenda is a presentation from Sierra House Elementary on its successful primary focus for the school year – math; a student celebration for Sierra House and Tahoe Valley elementaries; and South Tahoe High winter sports successes.
