SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Marin County has their coyote calls, New York City has their clapping, and now South Lake Tahoe will have a nightly cheer to honor and support essential workers and healthcare professionals working during the COVID-19 crisis.
Local Troy Matthews started the idea on Facebook Thursday and wants to see the community respond and go outside and give a big cheer for five minutes starting every night at 8:00 p.m.
In the midst of stay at home orders and a growing number of the population getting the virus (over one million on Thursday), cheering gives everyone a chance to recognize those on the front lines.
Matthews said he’d like this to spread to every community around the lake.
