TAHOE CITY, Calif. – Community members are invited to celebrate Earth Day with a rewarding afternoon of environmental stewardship during the Tahoe City Earth Day Cleanup on April 22 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Volunteers will meet and check in at California 89 in Tahoe City before heading out to help pick up litter around town.

The cleanup is hosted by the Keep Tahoe Blue in partnership with the Tahoe City Downtown Association and California 89.

Community members of all ages are encouraged to participate, as well as local businesses. Supplies will be provided to volunteers, and there will be a fun raffle with prizes, including tickets to the Tahoe City Food & Wine Classic and the Tahoe City Oktoberfest.

Participants may register at https://visittahoecity.org/event/earth-day26.

High Elevation Gardening event

In addition to the cleanup, UC Davis Tahoe Environmental Research Center (TERC) will hold the first event in its High Elevation Gardening series during the Earth Day gathering. Other events in the series will be held on May 17 and May 23.

Participants can stop by to learn about gardening in Tahoe’s unique high-elevation climate and pick up starter plants selected for the region. The series is designed to help residents grow successfully in Tahoe’s mountain environment while connecting with fellow local gardeners. Learn more at https://visittahoecity.org/event/gardening26.
