SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Congressman Kevin Kiley will be hosting the 2026 Congressional Art Competition for California’s Third Congressional District, sponsored by the Congressional Institute, which recognizes the artistic talent of high schoolers across the country.
As part of the competition, high school students from across California’s Third Congressional District are invited to submit one art piece of their choice to be judged by an independent panel made up of local art professors and experts in the field. The winning artwork from the district competition will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol, along with the winning art pieces from all participating districts around the country.
Accepted mediums for the two-dimensional artwork are as follows:
- Paintings: oil, acrylics, watercolor, etc.
- Drawings: colored pencil, pencil, ink, marker, pastel, charcoal (It is recommended that charcoal and pastel drawings be fixed.)
- Collages: must be two-dimensional
- Prints: lithographs, silkscreen, block prints
- Mixed Media: use of more than two mediums such as pencil, ink, watercolor, etc.
- Computer-generated art
- Photographs
Winners will also be invited, along with one guest, to a reception in Washington, D.C. on June 25. Second and third place finishers will be recognized with the opportunity to have their artwork displayed in Congressman Kiley’s Washington, D.C., and District Offices, respectively. All students who participate in the competition will receive Congressional Honor from Congressman Kiley in recognition of their hard work and dedication to the arts.
Deadlines: Wednesday, April 27, by 5 pm: Artwork is due for submission. It should be delivered or shipped to Congressman Kevin Kiley’s District Office (6538 Lonetree Blvd, Suite 200, Rocklin). Business hours are 9 am – 5 pm Monday through Friday.
